    Semi-working? Asus Fn Keys

    Hi,
Recently did a clean install of windows 8 on my Asus K53SV and the function keys work fine except for the brightness keys.
Actually, at first i loaded the windows 7 atk package and the brightness keys worked but the volume ones didn't then i got the latest atk package and now the brightness ones don't work (the lower brightness one just dims my monitor a bit and the increase brightness just makes it brighter a bit but doesn't change the brightness value) and the volume ones do.

I searched around for solutions; tried different atk packages and I really dont want to do another clean install, so is there a way to fix this?
I don't really need it as brightness is easy to adjust but it is useful to have.

Dude, you do not need to reinstall Win 8 to get that working.Install latest ATK package 1.0.0023 . Make sure you uninstall whatever you have in there, both my ASUS 's F functions are working as they should. You can always look up a newer model like x55 and grab drivers from asus site.

    Hi impulez,

I have EXACTLY the same symptom! Same machine, same phenomenon... Every sentence of you is true here as well, the same thing happens. I tried 1.0.10, 15 and 23, but none of them work flawlessly.
Please let me know if you found a solution!! (adaz at adaz dot hu)

    Thank you!

I sent an email to Asus suport regarding this problem. They replied, telling me that the driver wasn't developed for Windows 8 and that they don't know anything about the possibility of releasing a proper driver. I don't know what to say. There are ATK Packages for Windows 8 but for other models.....maybe they will release a fix or will wash their hands and sugest us to buy a newer model )

The brightness keys: Fn+F5 and F6. If you press 10 times to increase the brightness, it increases only 5%, no more. The same thing about decreasing.

ASUS support leaves much to be desired. I guess they expect the OS a device is shipped with should never be upgraded. That being said, using the Win 7 drivers I've installed on my G73SW, all FN keys have worked. The turbo power boost button doesn't seem to do anything. However, I can tell by monitoring the CPU speed in Task Manager / Performance tab, that turbo is active. Now if I can just get my Galaxy S3 to quit deactivating Win8 I'll be set.

this could be an issue of your graphic card and its driver, check that and make sure you have the latest.
