Struggling to figure this one out, the touch screen (capacitive) works under windows 7 fine, and also on the windows 8 installation pages but once it boots into windows 8 it doesn't work (although the pen works fine throughout all of it).

I have tried installing windows 8 from scratch, fully updating drivers etc though windows update, tried unticking usb power options in control panel, also through the Samsung update utility, tried installing windows 8 as a upgrade from a working installation of windows 7 too..

I have updated the bios to the latest version. Ran the windows 8 touch config bios application.... Uninstalled the usb hubs in device manager and reinstalled using ones from Samsung..

Now I'm at a total loss as for what I can do? I just don't understand why it works fine in windows 7 etc but the second windows 8 is installed its no longer working (in system properties it says pen enabled, not pen and touch - win W7 it said pen and 8 point multitouch or something like that..)

Anyone got any ideas??? Tearing my hair out now lol

As on top of it as you have been I would guess you've been here and done this but did you calibrate it? Control panel/tablet pc settings?

yeah I can only calibrate the pen as W8 isn't even registering it as a touch capable device. Unless I can figure this out Im guessing Ill have to stay on W7 - which would e a shame after buying 8.

I have a new Lenovo and the touchscreen is not compatible though it does function without flicks and multitouch. You have a strange problem hope someone with some good ideas come along.

yeah I did the usual; upgrade the bios, turn on UEFI, install W8, Use windows update Followed by using their driver/software update tool and lastly the touch firmware update tool.. still doesnt work oddly. I wonder if there are any differences between some of the models? Mine is a XE700T1A (XE700T1A-H01SE) which is supported according to Samsung.

Note: Bios is version 13FW

Not for the touch screens. If it works under Windows 7 and not under Windows 8, then either your Windows 8 media is bad (I have the same unit and it works fine), or your hardware is.

I guess that may well be the case. Odd how the hardware works fine under 7 and not 8 if it is hardware related though. (W8 Media is brand new without a scratch).

Will go back to W7 for now then as the touch works fine with that.

Assuming the Windows 8 media is actually OEM or retail media, then it wouldn't be that. The only issue would be if you downloaded it and the hashes didn't match from your ISO to the one you downloaded - seems odd, but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry.

It is the retail version (official dvd) so I guess that can be ruled out.
