Solved Missing DVD drive

I have two identical dvd drives - TSST Corp SH222 AB. Windows will only detect one. I've tried different SATA ports, cables. I can get it not to recognise any (as shown in Device Manager) if I use certain SATA ports! Each device is recognised in BIOS and each can work in Windows by using certain ports but only one at a time. The MB is a Gigabyte 970A-D3. Both work fine under Win 7. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Found this registry edit that did the trick however.
DVD drive not recognized in windows 8 - Microsoft Community

Might i suggest that the mods here make a sticky out of the above fix for this particular problem.
I had this exact same problem on two home built computers where only one of two identical DVD drives showed in Win8.
After spending days trawling the internet and trying all the "solutions" given, this was ( and in my opinion IS) the only solution to this problem.
It would be great if someone could make a little "Fix it" download that could put this code into the registry for those that are not as computer literate.

I agree. It certainly seems a common issue judging by the threads I trawled through to get the answer. You would have thought something like this problem would have been raised in the pre-release versions and fixed before final release!
