Anyone else waiting for Surface Pro?

I really like Windows 8 on my laptop so far. The only issues I have had on it is one driver that won't update (finger scroll, so kinda a big deal), and the occasional delay when hitting the windows key. One thing I really can't wait to get my hands on is the Surface Pro. I have only got to mess with the RT for about 5 minutes, but really like it. It's obvious in that small time that a touch screen is a must for Windows 8. It's actually quite frustrating that they came out with the bo-bo version of their line first, because they won't tell me when the Pro is actually coming out. Anyone else waiting for this?

    No.

    Just you, then.

    Have fun with it.

Nope, not waiting. It's going to be far too expensive for my blood as a tablet. Rather have a full fledged laptop.

I'm interested. The screen is a little small. That's my main gripe for the Surface. I also don't like the location where the power cable connects to the tablet, at least for the Surface RT version. I don't know if the Pro will have the same layout because it's a completely different architecture and different ports.

I do love the keyboards though. Even on the thin one, I was jamming on the keyboard though the thicker keyboard is really nice.

But I'm curious how the mouse would connect to it in terms of the USB ports. I might have to move to wireless mice. But I love my trackball dearly...

I've played with the Surface RT, to an extent. It's an ideal size for a tablet.

Having said that, yes I will be getting a Surface Pro in the near future. Actually, a friend and I just decided last night to road trip in a month or so to a Microsoft Store in Washington to check it out.

For probably 800 dollars, have a tablet with the SAME hardware that a comparable ultrabook or laptop has, along with being the MOST ideal tablet that can have a touch or type keyboard that pops on or off real easily; best tablet PC you'd ever need. I would buy a laptop for that money, but they don't do my fancy anymore. Being able to use AutoCAD and Photoshop on a tablet anywhere on the go real easy without dabbling with a keyboard dock and sheer portability outweighs the use of a laptop or ultrabook for me.

At this point, I wouldn't really understand why anyone would buy an ipad or an android over a Surface RT. There is cost involved, versus an ipad there isn't much of an argument. An android, maybe but the tablet app ecosystem I've been hearing is literally just blown up versions of the phone apps and aren't that great. The OS isn't that great.

I can understand not getting a Surface RT at this point because of how small the marketplace is. But as soon as Windows Store grows, that'll be less of a problem.

But the idea of carrying all my Windows programs around with a true Windows 8 machine... now that's awesome. My laptop has some big programs like Photoshop which can't be done on Android or iOS. Heck, they have Photoshop Touch on iOS and it looks like a joke.

As long as Adobe updates Photoshop to have good touch controls such as pinch to zoom, it'd be unbeatable. Right now, it's kind of archaic to use the zoom tool just to go in and out of a picture.

    Hi there
having tested the surface RT and actually liked it although it wasn't "beefy enough" for my need so I was definitely waiting for the surface pro -- however looking at the proposed pricing my answer is now Not any more.

    cheers

Of course YOU cannot see why anybody would do it. For the rest of us, it's a little more clear
    1). cost
2). experience of using the iPad.
3). far more extensive app support with the other options today
4). popularity. People want what their friends have, people want what is uber popular.
5). proven track records. The Surface is new, people might be leery about it's long term success.

These are just a few things that seem obvious right off the top to me.

Personally having used both devices, I think the iPad is more superior just because the usability is fluid and easy to achieve what you want to achieve, android OS is just fail after fail, doesn't seem to actually evolve, same stuff with a few bells and whistles, surface RT isn't going to be as demanded as pro version, people want to use windows programs with a windows tablet, the RT is a bad move on microsoft's part, i think they should have scrapped the RT version of the tablet all together (and reserved the OS for other devices using ARM processors), and stuck with the Pro and priced it the same as the RT is now.
