    USB3 - still missing a new Intel USB3 driver

Anybody know of a beta-driver for USB3 and a Z77 Intel chipset? (on a MSI mobo)

My USB3 is so sloow compared to same port in Windows 7. My daily backup of files, drawings and reports takes a LOT of time. This might be a windows 8 killer, if Intel and MS can't solve it.

Thanks, but that did not help. My problem is "only" performancewice. I.E. in windows 7 copy is done witn about 138kb/sec and in win 8 it is abot 41kb/sek. That is with Windows 8 Pro Upgrade downloaded image.

I believe its the lack of an Intel USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller driver that is causing this issue. I have it as well. There are no drivers for Windows 8 yet.
This is why using the same hardware under W7 the speed is so much better.

As far as i can see we cant do anything about it until Intel release these drivers.

You're absolutely right. I can't believe Intel hasn't hasn't released a driver yet. I tested my USB 3.0 external drive and performance is down quite a bit compared to the results I got on Windows 7

Not even a beta-driver to be found anywhere? I think it is a really letdown for Intel not having this in place with launch of Windows 8. And now a month later ... well Intel is still sleeping.

Does anybody know of USB3 performance with an ATI/AMD chipset?

Windows 8 has native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver for Windows 8.

We finally have our answer. I can't believe it. My Western Digital USB 3.0 performs worse in Windows 8

OK, that did it. Windows 8 is only for toy, when nothing else is going to happens from Intel.
My Samsung USB3 is taking even a higher hit in Windows 8 compared to win 7. And Intel don't want to do anything about it? I'm lucky to reach just 50% speed in Windows 8 compared to same drive, same port in Windows 7 (USB 3.0 that is).

How about AMD USB 3? Are they hit by Windows 8 also? (yeah, I know they don't have an Intel USB3 chip !!!!)

I'll test it on my AMD rig next time I boot it up

UPDATE: I ran the USB 3.0 drive on my AMD system and got the same results as I did on my Intel machine using Microsoft's driver ie: 120MB/s

Hi there USB3 seems sometimes to be a bit flakey on W8.1 -- the speed inexplicably drops quite considerably until the system is re-booted and then the drive works at full speed again. (External USB 3 drive on a laptop with dedicated USB3 slot) No viruses or malware -- just seems to happen...
USB3 HUB missing driver - or not?? in Drivers & Hardware
Greetings. USB3 and Windows 8 is still a fuss I think. When using Windows 8.1 internal USB3 driver for my Z77 chipset, my USB3 sticks runs fine when using them directly in the USB 3 ports on the mobo, but my Skarkoon USB 3 hub is only running USB2 speeds Internal 4-Port USB3.0 Hub | SHARKOON...

Hello, everyone. New member here. What about USB3.0's driver? Didn't even find such a driver on Acer's website and was forced to install Windows 7 instead. Another issue with the USB 3.0 I have is that it's not working when my laptop is off. Thought it was supposed to work/charge your phone...

New driver needed to increase USB3 performance in Z77 chipset. Performance is really low compared to same port in Win7, but for some reason the driver from Windows 7, won't install!! (Is not compatible it says).
USB3 in W8 anyone yet ?? in Drivers & Hardware
Hi all Anyone tried USB3 devices yet IN NATIVE USB3 Mode (not USB 2 compatability). I'm thinking of getting a couple of USB3 devices but if they only will work in USB2 mode then the extra expense IMO won't be worth it as USB2 speeds seem to be a lot better in W8 than W7. Cheers jimbo
