Can anyone recommend a good printer? (For my parents)

Doubts

Hey guys. I know this isn't really a "what's the best printer" but..

My parents asked me for a wireless printer for XMAS.

I have no idea what to get them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What printers are good? What printers suck? (Inkjet Vs. Laser? Canon Vs. HP?)

They just want a wireless printer that can print decent photos.

Any suggestions, are thanked. (If you provide an Amazon link, I will purchase via affiliate link if that's allowed, and if I pick your printer).

Thanks to anyone for suggestions.

Cordially

What's your budget?

Laser printers (IMHO) don't do well for printing photos. Inkjets can do better, on photo paper.

The Canon Selphy CP900 (Canon Direct Store- SELPHY CP900 Black Wireless) is a dye sublimation printer whose prints look like photographs. The largest prints it makes are 4X6", the consumables are expensive (over $0.25 a print), and it's fairly slow (47 second claimed per print). However, you won't get better-looking images from a compact, inexpensive home printer. (I have a CP800, which is similar but has no wireless capability. I don't use it much, but I like it.)

I'd be willing to pay up to like $300; the price isn't a huge variable, I'm just not sure what to consider really lol.

I appreciate your input nevertheless. ;)

No need to spend $300. I recently bought a HP Photosmart wireless for under $100. Usually I bought Canon (5 of them), but that HP is good. They all make good pictures. The difference is in the specs - but you cannot really see it with the human eye.

HP currently offers a 40% discount. It's worth a look: HP Photosmart | HP® Official Store

PS: Make sure you get a 3 in 1. The copy and scan function is so handy.

I hope that HP has changed their mode of operation.

A few years ago, they seemed to be the market leader - in terms of reducing the capacity of their inkjet cartridges. I have the impression that trend has reversed a bit, but I haven't bought an HP printer in a few years.

I have an old (2005) Photosmart 8250. It has become useless for printing photos: the rollers can't grip photo paper. Pfui.

My two Brother laser printers have been extremely reliable, but that may not say much about their inkjets.

I was no HP fan either - that's why I ended up with all those Canon printers. But it seems that they are much more reasonable with the cartridges now.

I also had a Brother inkjet printer once. It was the top of the line with phone, fax and the whole 9 yards. What a disaster. I never got it to work and had to RMA it. The Brother support was also dismal.
