Media Center TV

System has a Creatix SAA7131 triple capture device (Freeview, Sat, Cable, I'm using Freeview). TV works fine in other systems on same machine (XP and 7) but not in 8. A driver has been installed automatically and I am unable to change it - system insists that best driver is already installed.

Every time I run TV Setup in Media Center I get these two errors and Media Center hangs.

Event 3, ehRecvr TV tuner encountered an error. (0xc0040524) 713x BDA Analog TV Tuner

Event 3, ehRecvr TV tuner encountered an error. (0x%2) %1

Any help available? If not I guess I'll have to revert to 7.

Just curious if you did an upgrade or clean install of Win8. I did an upgrade and Media Center would hang. I then did a clean install and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure if you will need another Media Center product key. I already had an extra one because I wasn't sure if my first submission made it through (20 hour wait) resubmitted with another email address and I ended up getting 2.

Did you check with the tv tuner company for a new driver? You should be able to uninstall the one present now in control panel/system/device manager then search on your drive to the new driver or it might just install itself.

Thanks for the replies. It was a clean install and I wanted to try the Win 7 driver from Medion which is fine in Win 7. The driver folder (no exe) was on a different partition and every time I tried to update through Device Manager W8 refused, telling me the best driver was already installed. I then moved the driver folder to c:\ and tried again and that time it worked!

The driver W8 installed was signed by MS for W8rtm but doesn't work, so I'm wondering just how useful a MS signature is!
