The only hardware issue (besides a printer issue) I had after upgrading from win 7 64 to Win9Pro, was the breaking of the Life Cam software. The updated version LifeCam 4.20 would not have an .exe after upgrading windows or reinstalling the software/driver.
I found the solution on a Microsoft tech talk.
For those who hadn't found the solution...
If you have LifeCam 4.20 installed uninstall it and restart.
Download LifeCam 3.60 for win 7 32 -64 Install it and when a pop up tells you that it is not designed for the OS, click install it anyway.
Go to Windows update and check for updates and you will have a "Important Update" for the LifeCam.
Install the update and it works. You get your LifeCam Exe icon back and also the latest driver.
Back to normal! It also improves the performance when using the Camera App.
