If you go to Intel's site and download and install the latest drivers for the 82583V, the LM entry will disappear.

it's not the 82583 the problem it's the 82579, and the problem still come back after , it's not a question of drivers, it'S something in Windows that take the decision that's a LM not a V and since I have V driver, Windows disable the network card because it think I don,t have the good driver.

I don't just post it here, Microsoft are working on it too, until now I try 5 solutions they ask me to try, nothing work, the problem is they don't have this Asus board on hand. Asus on their side have already many problem with Windows 8 drivers to upgrade.... Anyway I lear to deal with the problem. I have 3 more slot available and quite few nic on a shelf, so I can always disable and use another Nic

The same thing happened to me and as I said, installing the correct drivers fixed it: -

2 network adapters showing up in Windows 8, causing problems

Read my first post in that thread and you'll see I had the same issue with the 82579V. I installed the latest drivers from Intel, rather than the ones that Windows 8 installs automatically, and the LM entry in Device Manager disappeared and everything works fine.
