Solved Epson 7600 Printer Driver for Win 8

Can anyone provide instructions to get the vista 64-bit driver for an Epson 7600 working in Windows 8? Epson will not provide a new driver. The vista driver worked in windows 7. I followed the instructions on the Epson driver website, but the driver installation did not work. The printer shows up as an unrecognized device in the Win 8 hardware list.

Not a direct answer to your question but the Epson site says drivers for Win 8 64-bit drivers can be expected soon.
they also state in the meantime to use the Win 7 driver and state how to install it. Apparently the Win 8 fault USB driver needs to be uninstalled first. Check it out and see if it helps:

Yes, I read the Epson statement and instructions on the 7600 driver. However, those instructions did not work. Then I called Epson tech support and talked to a real person. He said that the message on their site was just boilerplate and was not true. There was no Win7 driver for the 7600, and there will not be a Win8 driver either. He also said that no one at Epson tried the work-around instructions because they themselves do not have a 7600 printing to try them on. Unbelievable, but that's what he said! He could only suggest that I contact Microsoft for driver support.

I am hoping that someone has a better answer, and a way to get the vista 64-bit driver working with Win8.

I dont have that particular printer but I read somewhere where the Vista 64BIT driver was used and worked, I cant verify, but if you want to give it a try.. Sorry I cant find the link for you.. If I do, Ill repost with due credits..
