How Can I Enable Touch Screen?

I am using an Acer T232HL bmidz 10-point touch screen monitor. I just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro for my desktop from Windows 7. I have searched through Google's pages and found many resources that show how to enable and disable touch screen on tablet devices by using the Control Panel and then going to Hardware and Sound and finally clicking on Pen and Touch.

Well, on the desktop version when I go to the control panel and enter the Hardware and Sounds section I do not have an option for Pen and Touch. I figured it might be due to out of date drivers for the monitor. Every time I go to upgrade the drivers I receive a message saying that my drivers are up to date. Does anyone know what I might be missing in order to get this desktop monitor touch enabled?

Also, when I search for the words "Pen" or "Touch" in the Metro area it returns no results. Thanks in advance and for and all assistance.

did you connect the monitor to the USB port of your PC to enable touch? the video cable (HDMI, VGA, DVI) only provides video.

Turns out my USB was not pushed all the way in. *face palm* Thanks for bringing that up and reminding me to double check it. Once the USB is actually hooked up the Pen and Touch options are now available to the search feature in the Metro area. Marking this thread as solved.

    Thanks again.

The monitor is great. I really really enjoy it. It has great clarity and brightness to it (my first LED monitor) and the glass has just the right amount of drag to it. If you've used an IPad 2/3 without some kind of cover over the glass that is what you can compare it do. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice touch screen for their desktop. Kicker is that it's kinda pricey but if you can afford it it's fantastic.

people have to understand that the Acer is an IPS panel which is the big reason why it's more expensive. most people are used to the cheaper LCD displays which use TFT panels. the big difference is IPS gives you much greater viewing angles. which is critical for laptops and tablets. if you have an older laptop with a TFT panel, if you tilt the screen too much outside the narrow viewing angle, the screen appears dark. or if you move your head too far to the left or right side, the screen is dark. with an IPS panel, the wide viewing angles are great.

and of course, another reason why it's more expensive than the cheap monitors out there is the capacitive touch layers to the screen.
