this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing...

I have an HP Pavilion G6, which I upgraded to Windows 8. Here are the specs for the system:

HP Pavilion g6-1c74ca Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP® Support

When I upgraded I noticed some fps (frames per second) drop and ping rise on one of my favourite games, Ace of Spades. This game is remarkably simple, and as the developers put it "your grandmother's rig could run this game". Before the upgrade, the game ran fine. After, the fps decrease and ping increase led me to believe the graphics(fps)/network(ping) drivers might be to blame, so I went to the HP site to download the updated Windows 8 graphics and network drivers, link here:

Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion g6-1c74ca Notebook PC | HP® Support

When I tried to install them, I got this message for both:
"this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"

2 questions:
1) Why would hp supply a driver on its sight that can't be installed on the system that has a page of these drivers dedicated to it?
2) I did some googleing into possible causes. One possibility was not having the right .NET framework installed. I checked, and do have the correct version. I also updated my BIOS, in case that was the culprit. What might be the problem here?

There are two sets of drivers available at the link that you provide: one for machines with only the Intel graphics, the other for systems with switchable Intel/AMD graphics. You'd lose a lot of graphics performance if you had a switchable system and only had the Intel drivers installed.

I see no clear indication on the page as to which machines have the switchable package.

If you know that you have the switchable graphics option, I suggest uninstalling the Intel graphics drivers, and installing the AMD package (which is also supposed to include Intel drivers).

I have no personal experience with switchable graphics, so I haven't faced that issue. I don't know how to tell for sure whether the AMD controller is present. (Device manager?) Let us know whether it works out.

If you look at the specs page I included though, it pretty clearly states "Intel HD Graphics", so that is the driver I've downloaded, and the driver that installed. For some reason, though, I can't download the Windows 8 version of the driver.

I did. Read what I wrote more carefully.

Are you using "download" as a synonym for "install"?

Maybe you should try the AMD/Intel switchable package, even if you're not sure that your system has the hardware. Seems unlikely that it'd do any harm.

Didn't work. It unpacked all the files to install the drivers, then nothing happened....

Did you remove the current drivers before trying to install the new ones?

Otherwise, I'm out of ideas.

Just did. Still didn't work. Now downloading the Win 7 graphics drivers as I have no drivers installed and my screen is low-res :p.

Thanks for trying!

I see on the site you provided the link for that it has a "Let HP scan for drivers" - you might try that if you haven't already.

Haha, the scan came up with me not needing any updates, even though I currently have NO graphics driver installed. Some scan ;).

Nope. I'm assuming they supply the same driver, because I get the same error message when I try to install the Windows 8 driver.

Windows 8 system requirements are readily available on line as well as elsewhere. You can check them against your computers capabilities.

What you specifically need to know is precisely " what " is under capacity.

In my case I have an HP Slimline Pavilion with Vista Home premium. I found that everything was good except the RAM. I didn't quite have enough. So I tried to buy and install more but as it turns out the Slimline is small and packed and there wasn't any extra place to install it. So I didn't upgrade, I left it alone. The RAM was pretty cheap around $18 or $20.

You may need to add/upgrade memory or a graphics card or buy a new one and install. If you are lucky.
