With that hack do you get proper Aero glass effect in RTM? If you put something behind the menu is it blurred?
I am unable to get any glass working in RTM, just plain transparency.

You do get the start screen for a couple of secs, then the desktop.
For me it/Win8 RTM doesn't. I have managed to bypass the log-on screen, but even after setting Classic Shell to skip the start screen I still sit on the Start Screen; having to press the Desktop tile manually.

Don't know what you mean be steering wheel?

You are running RTM version of Windows 8? How can I get Win7 explorer.exe/Start Menu Search Box back?

Hmm, I can't seem to get either ClassicShell or Start8 to bypass the start screen. To be clear, some people have reported that those features do work in Win8 RTM (I am on Enterprise N, specifically)?

There are few troubleshooting steps that you can take.

First, both programs rely on a service to start as soon as you log in. Verify that the service is running and also try restarting to ensure the service starts properly.

Also if you are using an auto-login of some sort, try disabling it. See if logging in normally with a username and password works.

I took off the code to bypass logging-in. I'm not using a Microsoft Account anyway (just a username with no password) so it automatically logs me into the laptop, and also it didn't bypass having to press the log-on picture when I 'signed-out' either, thus making that tweak useless for me (for now).

I've also gotten the bypass start screen functionality in ClassicShell to work (more on how later) and it's even better than on RP where I would see the start screen upon boot-up for 1-2 seconds, on RTM I am taken from the automatic logging-in screen straight to the desktop. Admittedly the taskbar is present for half a second before the background/icons kick-in, but at least it boots me directly into my working environment now. I've actually come to like the Start Screen in place of the Start Menu (outside of wishing for Win7's awesome start menu search box's return, to the user above please advise how you got this to work); I just didn't want to get dumped there every time I booted. I obviously still use CS to skip the boot-up start screen, and the tweaks in explorer that Classic Explorer offers.

It turns-out that ClassicShell's 'skip start screen' feature only seems to work when 'enable start orb' is checked. That might be something to look into. I have simply chosen to have the start orb take me to the start screen.

I think there was a version when the two features to skip metro and to add the start orb were linked.
It should be fixed in the next version that hopefully will be out in a few days.
