The minimal Taskbar....

I've always thought that the Charms bar seems superfluous on the Desktop since you have not one, but TWO places to change some settings, like sound and networking. Then, a radical idea hit me, get rid of the system notification icons from the Taskbar...



Now only the new Charms bar of Windows 8 can be used to see my networking status, time, and be used to shut down, sleep, restart, or hibernate.

Radical I say!

You mean the bar on the right? How do you get rid of it from appearing when you hover the mouse to the bottom-right corner while in desktop? So that it only appears when you do it while in the new full screen Start Menu?

It's a part of the OS, you can't get rid of it. It appears from the Desktop to the Start Screen to apps, it's half of the new metro taskbar.

You can get rid of it.

But if you do that - you need to restart to get it back. Lord knows why you would want it back.

How do you get rid of it? It pops up if you hover to the bottom right. And if you get rid of it, how do access the stuff on it like power off, and settings?

A. How often do people hover in corners, unless they use a mouse app with corner app activation. Which is quite rare that people know that exists.

B. You can add shutdown etc, to right click desktop context menu, which I have done, and can be found in the tutorials.
