    Black Screen Wallpaper bug

On Windows 8.1 whenever I change the wallpaper from Personalisation, when I close the window, the wallppaper goes all black, though the wallpaper appears on the Desktop tile on the start screen. I know you can fix this by enabling Desktop Icons, but is there any permanent fixes for this bug?

    Some of my system Specs:

    PC Manufacturer: Lenovo
    PC Model: Thinkpad Edge E450
    OS: Windows 8.1
    CPU: Intel Core i5-5200U
    RAM: 2x4GB (8GB)
    GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500
    AMD Radeon R7 M260

    Refresh does not fix it

    Update 06/04/15(DD/MM/YY)
Windows 10 TP Build 10041 also has this problem on my computer
On my old laptop(Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 11) the wallpaper also disappears

    Update 09/04/15
On another desktop I have vhd booted Windows 10 Build 10041 and the wallpaper also disappears

I am having the same kind of issue. You mention enabling Desktop Icons. How is that done?

If you went to the link I posted above in read through, you have these choices:

    What I did-
    What I did was:

    1. Go to C:\windows\web\wallpaper\windows\ and created a new folder, and called it "My Backgrounds".
    2. Then I opened a second explorer.exe, using check boxes, checked the pictures I wanted to copy/import.
    3. Then sent them to my newly created folder.

Now when I change the image, I don't have to manually refresh.
What Brink showed me, and I still have to use, if I use something other than the above folder(for example Pictures Library)

Hmm, something is not refreshing explorer to apply your changes.

The SFC scan may help. For now, you could add restart explorer to your context menu if you like to make it easier to restart explorer as needed instead of changing the background twice.
