    Desktop background wallpaper multiple folders

Have dozens of folders under pictures , some folders have subfolders, but my picture gallery is pretty large. I would like to select all those folders to play a slideshow but it seems windows 8.1 will only allow one folder to be selected. IF this is true, would be a terrible waste of hard drive space to copy all these thousand upon thousands of pics to just one folder. Tell me please im doing something wrong.

    Hello Bill,

If you like, you could add these folders to your Pictures library. Afterwards, select the Pictures library to play from for your slideshow to include all images in all the included folders.

    Hope this helps,

You could create shortcuts in the "slideshow folder". You could do it like this:

    1. For each folder that has the pictures you want (as long as it's all of them) - open the folder, hold down the CTRL key and push A (CTRL+A) to first select all of them.

    2. Rt. click on top of the selected files and choose 'Create Shortcuts'

    3. You will now have shortcuts to all those pictures, so click on Type at the top of the Explorer window to sort the files by type.

    4. All the shortcuts will now be lumped together to make selection easier. Either drag a box around all the shortcuts, or click on the first shortcut to highlight it, then hold down Shift and click the last shortcut in the list. This will select all the shortcuts, at which point you would hit CTRL+X, then go to the folder where you want to paste them (the slideshow folder) and hit CTRL+V to paste them.

    5. Do this for all the folders that have the pics you want. I would just open 2 seperate Explorer windows (hit Windows key + E once, then do it one more time to open two explorer windows). Now rt.click the taskbar and choose 'Show Windows stacked (or side by side)'. Use one window for the slideshow folder, then use the other folder to navigate to all your pics - you can then cut and paste all the shortcuts quickly.

When you are in Desktop Background, did you select the Pictures Library like below to see all images in the library from the added folders?

    Have fun.

When able, you could test by removing all folders from the library but one to see if the images show up in Desktop Background. If they do, add another folder back to the library, and test again in Desktop Background to see if they show up or not. Repeat until you find the culprit folder that's breaking it.

I cleared the pictures library , no links to anything, but , I cant get a image of it, but under background locations it still shows a few picture locations under my user picture folders, not sure now to clear those, looking for a registry entry currently

That's ok. How does it go when you add a few folders at a time, and check to see if there images show up in the background location when you have "Pictures Library" selected?

do NOT show up. remains blank. When I first got this machine--pre loaded win 8.1 would not detected any of my music under the metro tiles, I uninstalled and reinstalled the music app and its worked fine sense. I don't have that issue with the pictures tiles, shows all my subdirectories of pics.

Hello, I'm sorry if this has been covered already but I was unable to find a solution. I am running multiple Windows 8.1 Pro x64 machines but one has an odd issue. It resets the desktop wallpaper for all accounts after the user logs off. When I log back in I get the solid color that was selected...
So, I swear this used to work. I have a company logo that is a transparent .PNG image. However, the frame of the image is filled with opaque black (or sometimes white) when I set it as my wallpaper. I find this really strange, as the transparency shows up correctly in the .PNG file's Explorer...
