You need to customize the default user profile. Start Screen cannot be customized in default profile but almost everything else like a standard home page, colors and theme, icons and so on can be done.

Check this post: How to have same profile for all users in the domain! - Windows 7 Help Forums. Although the post is written for Windows 7, the principle is the same in Windows 8. Notice that to enter Audit Mode in Windows 8 is a bit different than in Windows 7. You enter Audit Mode in Windows 8 when installation reaches this view:

6353d1338499188t-clean-install-windows-8-step9.jpg

Instead of selecting the color theme and naming your reference PC you are using to create the image, press CTRL + SHIFT + F3 to reboot to Audit Mode.

Other than this difference in entering Audit Mode, instructions to customize the default user profile are the same for both Windows 7 and 8.

The Internet Explorer home page and favorites settings made in Audit Mode will be copied over to the default user profile when both of these statements are true, as told in tutorial:

  1. CopyProfile has a value True in Answer File > Settings Pass:
    Code:
    <CopyProfile>[hl]True[/hl]</CopyProfile>
  2. Generalize switch is used with Sysprep command:
    Code:
    [COLOR=#000000]%windir%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /[hl]generalize[/hl] /oobe /[/COLOR][COLOR=#000000][shutdown OR [/COLOR][COLOR=#000000]reboot] /unattend:[/COLOR][COLOR=#000000]X:[/COLOR][COLOR=#000000]\DefaultProfile.xml[/COLOR]
Other browsers might behave differently.

how can you make such a recording system which is also included in the oobe sometimes?

Videos in tutorial I think you are referring to are made from a virtual machine running in its own program window on my desktop.

Only official and supported (by Microsoft) way to customize the default user profile is to do first customizing in Audit Mode before any user profiles are created, then sysprep the image with generalize switch.

and where is the home in the registery for all users? I can change it maybe the start but the user can still change the home page. favorites and how do you do that for all users? and how do you eg media player fastens on the taskbar?
and how to make a record in the oobe?

  • The Sysprep command with generalize is required to apply all customizations exceptions: see below) made in Audit Mode to default user profile. See the post at Seven Forums I linked to in my first post in this thread and tutorials mentioned in that post
  • Following items cannot be set in default user profile:
    1. Start Screen
    2. Taskbar pinned icons
  • I do not recommend editing registry manually in a general image used to deploy windows, too much can go wrong
  • As I mentioned in my previous post, I make recordings of OOBE / Welcome mode in a virtual machine which runs independently in a window on my desktop
