How to change number of rows in win 8.1 start screen

    Hello
    I am using Win 8.1 x64.
Can anyone please tell me how to change number of rows on it? I want 3 rows in centre of screen.
I did see some tutorials but they said "Only for windows 8". So please guide me through this.

    Hello Jaskaran,

You could use Option One in the tutorial below to change the number of app rows in Windows 8.1, but only if your screen resolution is set to 1920 X 1200 or above.

Start Screen - Metro Apps - Change Number of Rows in Windows 8

    Hope this may help,

Hello Jaskaran. You asked about setting to 3 rows in the center.

    I use 1920 x 1080 and 3 rows.

The provided links are great! They have lots of info and tweaks.
I always use 3 rows but have become a fan of HUGE tiles - 2 in the center.
There are an unlimited number of ways to customize the start screen.

If you look at the bottom of the tutorial page (Related Tutorials)

there is a long list of possibilities.

My preference @ 1920 x 1080 for my 37" HDTV is to set the display to LARGER and work from there.

3 rows and 2 HUGE (this way requires 1 HUGE tile, just my preference)

in 8.1.1 - right click a start screen tile and resize to Large

    Good Luck!

Just a note, it is necessary to use Oblytile to create "resizable to Large customized tiles"

Hello, Recently I have upgraded my notebook from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro and then to Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. I noticed that the Start screen in Windows 8.1 shows on my laptop's 1366x768 display 4 rows of tiles on the Start screen. However, at home, I usually attach an HDMI...

The Title says it all .
Has anyone found a modification utility that will allow more than the defined maximum rows on the Start Screen? My 1920x1200 monitor could easily handle 9 rows but is only allowed to have 7 rows. Smaller tiles and more rows and columns would be even nicer.
Weird and annoying. Suddenly after a reboot my 5 row layout of Metro screen was changed. Tiles are now huge, Metro only showing two rows: 6668 This on laptop's 1600 * 900 display. If I set my external 1920 * 1080 display as primary, it shows the same huge ties in 3 rows: 6669
