    Can't delete Unsaved Theme

In Windows 8.1 I have an unsaved theme which reappears every time I delete it. I've tried saving it before deleting it, but that didn't work. The real problem is that regardless of which theme I select, it reverts within minutes to the unsaved, undeletable one. I know many others have had this problem but in the few cases where someone seems to have solved it the solution was beyond my modest tech skills. I'm hoping for a dummy-friendly fix. thanks

Hello Mariusz, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Whenever you make any changes to your theme, it will show as an unsaved theme. You will not be able to delete your current theme, so you would need to select another theme before you will be able to delete it.

Theme - Save in Windows 8

Theme - Delete in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for replying, but I've tried that a bazillion times and the problem persists.

Does your desktop background change (ex: Bing or slideshow)? If so, then that will cause this as well since the theme changes each time the background does.

The slideshow consists of photos from a saved theme, plus two from the unsaved one which won't go away. I have attempted to delete those two pics from my hard drive, but they're obviously still there somewhere.

It doesn't matter if the slideshow is from a saved theme. Each time the background changes it will still show as an unsaved theme in Personalization. At least that's how it does for me with the Bing daily background.

The problem seems now to have fixed itself. Maybe the machine just needed to think about it for a few hours before deciding to cooperate. I really appreciate your help, Brink. Thanks again. If the problem reoccurs I'll be back!
