Hello Cvcorv8, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you like, you could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to specify a desktop background for all users that cannot be changed.
Another option, is to create and save a .theme with the desktop background you want New Users to have, then....

.... use OPTION TWO below to specify that .theme file to be used for all New Users by default. The new user will still be able to change it if they like.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I thought you wanted to specify a desktop background for all new users on the same computer.

When you use step 5 in Option Two to specify that .theme file, you would enter the full path of where you saved the .theme file.

A .theme file only points to the location of the wallpaper and doesn't actually include it in the file. This is why the desktop background is black since the wallpaper is not on the other computer.

It would be best to create the .theme file on the same computer you want to do this on so that all the files will be on it.

Otherwise, you could create and save a .deskthemepack (step 8 at link) file on one computer, save it to the other computer, and double click on the file to install it. From there, you could get the .theme file for it at the hidden location below.

Now I've done registry performance, but nothing happens when I create a new user? I have the computer already rebooted. I want to have all the desktop icons on the desktop as PC, network, recycle bin, control panel, and the user folder that I want all automatically on the desktop if I create a new user.

Are you saying that the .theme is not applied to a new user when created? If so, have the .theme file saved to say "C:\Users\Public", and double check to make sure no mistakes have been made in the steps. In addition, verify that the .theme works by double clicking on it.

Desktop icons would not be part of a .theme.

What do you mean C:\Users\Public\? because I have the file in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes mounted. and then set the theme.
and how do I get it done with desktop icons?

    Welcome to Windows EightForums, cvcorv8.

As Brink has stated, you would have to set that as you create each individual account, for this aspect is not a part of themes, but rather Desktop Icon Settings as explained in the tutorial below.
