Custom touch keyboards/maths symbols keyboard

So I'm looking for some kind of maths keyboard which I can use to easily add maths symbols to my lecture notes. Best way I could think of doing this is with the touch keyboard. With the touch keyboard you can hit the little keyboard button bottom left and change between a regular keyboard, split keyboard, or like...writing keyboard. Surely you could add a fourth? Either with a custom character set or a premade maths one? I know about the maths input panel, but it can't recognise all symbols flawlessly, and it would be much quicker to have the most used ones readily available on the touch keyboard.

Something like that could do the job, but I'm looking for something a little more integrated. I really like using the one note app as opposed to the full desktop application, it makes better use of the limited screen size. What this means though is that its impractical/I dont think I can use a desktop application to input maths symbols.
