    Questions

    Hi,
I have done these steps - it works great! - and have a few questions:

    • Do I have to disable the normal screen saver? If so, how?
    • Can I set how long it takes for the screensaver to start? I want it at 1 minute

    Thanks!

    Re: Questions

    Hi Upsilon -

Good job! I disabled my regular screen saver, right click on desktop, select Personalize, click on Screen Saver and set the drop down list to "(None)" hit Apply, OK to save. My bubbles take about 4 minutes of idle time to start. When I tried to control the idle time, it broke the process and my bubbles script wouldn't start at all. I don't know why. I feel lucky that they work at all.

If you have success setting your idle time to 1 minute without breaking the process, please do post it here. Also, if you like, please upload a screen shot of your bubbles at work.

    Thanks!

I haven't tried it yet as I am busy right now, but it seems a Task could be created in Task Scheduler to run the bubbles.

    A picture---

I will try it later using the address of the .scr on my Desktop.

edit--- Couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for testing. You're right, setting idle conditions breaks the process. Thing is, it used to work, but my guess is an update to Windows brought in some other process to work in the background. Hope you got your bubbles back by clearing the condition as before.

    The original shortcut quit working.

    Probably an update killed it.

;I've uploaded my Bubbles.xml exported Task file zipped up for you. It's clean and clear of any virus or malware. You have the same OS as mine, so it should work. After you unpack it, you can import it straight into your Task Library. First, you'll need to send Bubbles.scr back to your desktop as a shortcut again. Also attached below is a picture that shows the idle conditions that allow it to start. Hope this helps.

The only other thing I can think of is to look in your Task Library for any other Tasks that are set to run on idle, and disable them. That's what I did. I took a chance. You can always re-enable them i they are critical.

Thanks! Kinda weird, how setting the idle time doesn't work. I'll try and get it to work...

@David Bailey: Why do you have such a messed up theme? Also, finkey01 said that method wouldn't work.

I feel like I've tried every possible variation of this solution but, no luck. Could somebody please confirm what my argument needs to be and what my script should read? Currently I'm receiving an error that reads "Expected end of statement," which is super confusing. I have little to no idea what I'm doing.

    Current script:

    OWS = Create Object("WScript.Shell")
    OWS.Run "C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-bubbles_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16384_none_031e0ac2e58b36bb\Bubbles.scr"

    Current Argument: "C:\Users\SZ\Documents\Stuff\Bubbles.vbs"

Though I feel like I've tried every other possible input, I'm definitely doing something wrong. This is driving me crazy.

Also, if I finally manage to get it working, can I delete the actual screensaver shortcut off my desktop or does it have to stay there? This is a nightmare.
