Display dynamic text on Start screen

    Hi,

I would like to use the Start screen to display system monitor information (from SpeedFan). Is there any way I can do this? Any third party applications that would lay on top of the Start screen and display my dynamic text?

Thank you for sharing the links!

Using live tiles will not be a good solution for me mainly due to their limited update frequency (~15 minutes). I mentioned that I would be using this for monitoring and knowing what state the system was in 15 minutes ago is not interesting. However, this looks promising:

Desktop apps on top of Metro

Desktop apps on top of Metro - Extended

Unfortunately this appears to require some C++ skills. I work mainly with Java and some VB .NET
