Solved How to stop Quick Launch fron shrinking after reboot?

Hey all,

I just got a new laptop with Windows 8.1.

I really didn't want Windows 8, but with a little research, I was able to install Start8 and recover the Start Menu/taskbar function and get rid of the tile start page.

Anyway, I got the quick launch icon's back, but every time I reboot the computer the quick launch shrinks down to 1 icon wide, instead of showing all 4 icons like I have it set to and lock the taskbar before I reboot..

Does anyone know how to fix this so it won't resize every reboot?

Thanks!

You may have more chance of a work-around or fix posting here
I suspect it's an issue with the start/taskbar software.

Hello Chad, and welcome to Eight Forums.

After you have added Quick Launch to your taskbar, did you lock the taskbar?

In addition, see if this is the method you used below, or if it may help any for now.

Hope this helps, :)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I locked the task bar and yes that is the method I used!

I actually just figured it out!

Apparently they had pokki installed from the factory! I thought it was part of Windows 8 (this is my first experience with Windows 8), anyway pokki had placed itself on the right hand side of the task at after I installed start8 and was for some reason causing the quick launch to collaps every time I rebooted..

I've since uninstalled pokki and Start 8, in favor of StartIsBack.

Thanks!

I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. :)

Moving Quick Launch to a different location on the taskbar away from the Start button may help with Start 8 if the button may have been causing it some how.

I guess what was causing the problem is in effect I had 2 start button's on the task bar, one on the far left, and one on the far right. So I guess that causes it to consolidate the Quick Launch bar...

Getting rid of the 2nd start button fixed the problem.

Thanks,
