Left Side Bar to Cycle through Metro - Stickying Desktop

    Hi!

As you can see the picture. It has become rather annoying seeing that i always need to look for Desktop whenever i want to switch to it. It'll be A LOT easier and convenient if there is a possibility to Stick the Desktop Thumbnail on the top. This way, i would be able to blind click in Top Left corner to switch to desktop.

    So, is there a way?

    Hello abobobilly,

By default, the desktop app is already always on the top of app switcher when you are not on the desktop.

If you like, you could also press the + D keys to go to the desktop.

    Hope this helps some,
    Shawn

@Brink ! Thanks for the reply Sire.

From what i have observed, it doesn't remain on top by default. The default behavior makes "the last switched app" appear on the top.

For example: Take above picture for example, where "Store" is opened. Desktop is shown on top because thats where i have switched from. Now, if i switch to Mail, Store will be on top because thats the last app i have switched from.

I was hoping for any Mod, some registry entry perhaps which could do what i said in my previous post. Throwing a Mouse in a Corner is Bullet Speed fast than pressing WinKey+D.

I hope someone has an idea regarding this

Oops your right, but unless you have a lot opened, it should still be relatively quick to slide down and click on desktop.

I'm not aware of anyway to make Desktop to stick to the top of app switcher though.

Well i have been using Windows 8 ever since it came out a year ago, and now been using 8.1 since almost 2 months ... its not a major problem for me. I just thought to find a way to make this better.

Hi there. I beg to differ with you on that. We'll have a showdown at the OK Corral. You bring your mouse and I'll bring my keyboard. Before you have time you reach your mouse I'll have any screen up and ready.

I can see if one is a mouse user it would be easier keeping the desktop thumbnail at the top. I don’t have a solution, but you may want to try WinKey/Tab > holding the WinKey and “Tabbing through the thumbnails. Alt/Tab works well also holding the Alt key and tabbing. That actually gives one more options.

    Polite Pass

Allow me to explain the situation. I have full grip on keyboard (being new at Eight Forums, doesn't mean i don't know anything ). Some where 10 years ago, my father used to hide the mouse of my PC -- a way to stop me from spending too much time infront of a PC. Well, it turned out i learned A LOT in those years lol. But thats irrelevant.

Keyboard is faster, yes i agree. But what if you are sitting in a relaxed position with only one hand active ... i for once would feel it very inconvenient picking up my arm just to switch back to desktop. And it normally takes 1-2 seconds to "look for" the Desktop tile in top left corner if i am using 7-8 Metro Apps ... which makes the experience rather cluttered.

Well thanks for the reply anyway mate.

And like i mentioned above, i am clueless if there is such a solution at all.

I'll try to find some developers and will ask for their opinion. If i find anything at all on this, i'll post it here as well

    Maybe this picture will help:

    EDIT--

    I like Peek.

If I move the cursor away from the corner whatever I'm doing comes back.

@David Balley! Yep brother, already know this and use it too

However my question was related to the "Metro Apps & Desktop" switching.

Ok. Don't know you well enough to know what you know. Now I know that you know that I know what you know.

I understand > Drink in one hand and mouse in the other while surfing the Net.

BTW, if I were king of the world I would ban all mice at office workstations. There are very few situations were you need one. A browser is one, CAD, and pic editor.

I would imagine it'll be a Registry hack.
