Move Minimize/Close/Maximize to the left- Windows 8.1 x64b

Hi!
My first post- Nice to meet you! ^ ^

I've tried searching the NET for info on how to move the Maximize/Minimize/Close buttons to the left- I failed! T_T

I'm left-handed. Previously on Windows 7 I somehow managed( don't ask me how, I can't remember) to move all buttons to the left site without third party software.
Now, I'd like to do the same with the new Windows 8.1. Do you know how I can do this by "raping" my System Files( Windows, system folders, third party apps- hard customization)? I saw an app somewhere, but it requires you to keep it activated( start up)- That's not what I want. I'm looking for a way to change/tweak their position forever! *curious*

I just can't get used to the "new" buttons-on-the-right system- On Windows 7 I had all my buttons on the left site for years!

Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate your help- insane people with nerdy/geeky/experimental ideas are welcome. xD
See you around. ^_^

Hello Gennin,

Welcome to eightforums!

I'm not sure if some registry settings exist for that, but by not using any third party program for that is a challenge.

If you do remember how it was done it Win7, I'm pretty sure the same procedure should work on 8 or 8.1 as well.

In the meantime you can use a small program called LeftSider:
Move the Window Control Buttons to the Left Side in Windows

Cheers
Hopachi

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I know Leftsider- however it doesn't work correctly on Windows 8.1.

Let me show you what I mean.(see attached image)

The app works, yea. It's perfect, but the "Quick Access Toolbar" is still there. The app does not remove Quick Access buttons causing overlapping. You could customize the toolbar and move all Quick Access buttons below the ribbon, but you can't move the Location Indicator.( When you're in "Downloads" you'll see the Downloads folder icon)

So, basically this app is nonsense. T__T

I don't understand Microsoft's policy. Is Bill Gates jewish?XD
All jokes aside! Yes, most Windows users are used to the buttons-on-the-right policy, but you don't have to be left-handed to understand that Asian and Western people tend to read and move their eyes from the left to the right.(Menus, Movies, Special Effects etc.)
Microsoft's Buttons-to-the-right policy is good for Arabs and Jews, but it's not 100% perfect for Asian and European users.

I'll leave this thread open- Moderator, don't even think about marking the thread solved! xP

Anyways, thanks for your input Hopachi!
Gennin

Sorry.
I din't see that coming but Win7 has plenty of space there in the left corner, 8 doesn't.

Windows 8 is new for that program because there's some icons there in something called the "Quick Access Toolbar".
You can try and put it below the ribbon because I don't know if it can be disabled:

If it still doesn't help, just don't use Leftsider.

@Hopachi

I know you didn't. ^ ^

Yep, i already tried that before posting my last answer.
You know, the thing is, removing the Quick Access Toolbar( moving it) won't solve the problem. Why? Because this little "hunny bunny"( see attached picture) is still there- the current opened window indicator/location.

Yea... Thank you for your kind words: " Just don't use Leftsider".
Great! xD
You could have said something like: "I feel you, man. I'm sorry for you!"
*laughter* But, no! Instead you chose to show the entire world how cold and insensible your are. :haha:

True, sometimes I look like this:

But don't worry. If I find a solution somewhere I'll post it.
Hopefully someone will come and add another tip or too.

It's funny how Windows 8 itself is more left-handed unfriendly that 7.
Or we're just missing some important tweaks...

I don't want to meet you in person. You're dangerous... *hides*

Sure! Keep looking! I'll keep looking for a solution, too.

Funny? Damn cynic!
It's sad! My business computer runs Ubuntu, which changed the location of "Minimize/Close/Maximie". It's difficult for a mortal person to understand Microsoft.
