Cannot arrange tiles in vertical rows

    Hello Forum,

I'm trying to arrange tiles in Windows 8.1 below each other but they always arrange themselfs next to each other.

I have i. e. a group of tiles with four columns - the first two columns have five tiles each (= full height of the Start screen), the next two columns have two tiles each. I want to have the two tiles from the last column under the the two tiles from the third column so that there are altogether only three columns. However, it is impossible to get the two tiles from the last column below the two tiles from the third column - they flip around but refuse to be in one column but remain in two columns instead.

How can I get the tiles below each other?

    Thanks - desertman

Im afraid there's no fix or tweak for that. Windows just likes to always have two tiles next to each other

Maybe I am just dense, but how do you arrange the tiles on the Start Window? Every time I change the location of a tile, the system changes the location of other tiles in some manner that I have yet to understand. Thanks for any tips, Jim
I made a toolbar on my taskbar of a folder with a few things in it. I can drag and rearrange the icons on the toolbar but, every time I reset/shut down/log out or anything, the icons all return to the default positions. Is there any way to get the icons to save their given arrangements?

Has anyone found a modification utility that will allow more than the defined maximum rows on the Start Screen? My 1920x1200 monitor could easily handle 9 rows but is only allowed to have 7 rows. Smaller tiles and more rows and columns would be even nicer.
When I try to arrange the tiles pinned in the new full screen Start Menu, they all slide next to each other in columns of 2. But I can't figure out how to set the tiles anywhere I want. Or set the column spacers. Everything just slides to the top left. Like say I have 20 tiles, and I wanted...
Weird and annoying. Suddenly after a reboot my 5 row layout of Metro screen was changed. Tiles are now huge, Metro only showing two rows: 6668 This on laptop's 1600 * 900 display. If I set my external 1920 * 1080 display as primary, it shows the same huge ties in 3 rows: 6669
