Programmatic way to show Start Screen?

I have the Classic Start button installed and I have it set up to bypass the Start Screen and disable the corner hotkeys.

I don't use the APPs, but occasionally I go to the Start Screen to remove some new installation tiles.

Since I have the start corner hotkeys disabled, I have to go into the Classic Start button configuration to re-enable them in order to get access to the Start Screen.

So my question is this: Is there a programmatic way to access the Start Screen. For example, one of those special GUIDs or maybe a special call to explorer.exe that I can set with a shortcut?

Thanks for any pointers, I couldn't find this via search.

Does the program disable the Windows key on the keyboard? That will usually take you to the Start Screen.

The Winkey toggle is altered - it shows the Start Menu, not the Start Screen. Win-D shows Desktop, not Start Screen.

Of course, these can be re-enabled, but as I said, I have to open the configuration menus to do that.

    EDIT: correction.

I could use Winkey - Q to get the Search app and then go to the Start Screen. But that's not a single-step solution.

I don't know what "Classic Start button" software you have installed, but most start menu replacements have a way to get to the start screen. For example in Classic Shell it is Shift+Win (or Shift+click), and I think in Start8 it is Ctrl+Win. Check out the settings or the documentation. Most of these programs are quite configurable. There are programmatic ways to open the start screen, however those are probably hooked by the start menu software to show the classic menu instead.

    Hello Jim,

You might see if the Start shortcut below may work for your needs.

    Hope this helps,

    Brink,

That opened the Classic Start menu.

For the rest, the program I am using for the 'Start' button is called Classic Shell:

I've installed just the start button part of this software.

    Thanks, Ivo -

Shift+Win does it! It toggles like Winkey would normally

I suppose that was in the documentation for Classic Shell which I should have checked.
