When you say themes, are you looking to change the whole look and feel of win 8, or just the wallpaper along with a win 8 style.

If looking to change the complete look and feel you can fine just about anything you want by using a search engine of your choice and then typing in "Skinning Windows 8.". . .Good luck either way.

(IMO it works well with NEW W8 installs , some updates kill the theme if they are installed BEFORE installing the theme)

The problem with those types of Skins is they require UxStyle patching of files that can corrupt windows 8.
Especially if the system ever tries to update those files.
I have had more problems with trying to fix things that those type of skins have broken.

I warn people to pass on them, they are a huge headache in the long run.

WindowBlinds works, but I am still testing myself,, I am not sure if it or something else broke my video drivers that I have not been able to fix yet.

Sounds like a sales pitch for Stardock if you ask me.
Stardock is nothing but bloatware and has to run in the system tray in order for your theme(s) to work, patching your system requires no software to run in the tray at all resulting in ZERO resources being taken up.

Doing it the manual way, there is no software to download and run in the tray so there will be ZERO system resources being eaten up by any software just so you can run a theme, you patch your system with the UXtheme patcher or Universal theme patcher , install your theme and you are on your way.
Can your patched files go corrupt? certainly, as they can also with Windowblinds if you update the patched files without returning them to their original state before doing so. You see, Windowblinds is no different than patching your system files manually, it's just the software does it for you, the .dll files HAVE TO be patched in order for Windows to be able to run any third party themes, no matter if you do it manually, or with software.

I have been themeing and running third party themes on my Windows machines without the use of any Stardock product for years now and have YET to have any problem whatsoever running them, it's just a matter of following directions carefully and making sure you set a restore point before you perform the initial theme install......

I have had more problems with trying to fix things that those type of skins have broken.

So tell me what was it that supposedly "broke" on you? or let me clarify, what was it that you did wrong while installing the theme that caused it to display wrong on you?

That's why I say, programs like Windowblinds are for people that do not know what they are doing and do not understand the concept of installing a theme manually.

Personally I'd much rather do it the manual way because ....
a.) You know EXACTLY what is being changed on your system
b.) There is not third party software/bloatware to download and run just to run third party themes.
c.) When it comes time to putting things back the way they were, it is much easier, as with uninstalling software it will not always go back the way it was before.

Besides, Stardock support sux. all their support people treat you with arrogance, like your stupid and some kind of newb.

Tell the guys over at Stardock I said hey! and I'll continue running their bloatware into the ground every chance I get. ;)

BTW ...... It wasn't installing the theme manually that "broke" your video drivers, it has absolutely nothing to do with it. Those types of things go corrupt all by themselves. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers.

Sorry to sound so arrogant but I have found that 99.99% of the time it is the user that "breaks" the system while installing themes manually and NOT the theme itself.
