How do I change the default start screen search category? It always searches apps by default I wish to search files by default how do I go about this?

You're most welcome.

There's not a way to change the default search that I know of. However, you could use the Search Files shortcut from the tutorial below to open search directly with files selected. You can also "Pin to Start" this shortcut to make it easy to use from Start as well.

I may have spoke too soon, it only throws suggestions it does not actively search and display my files?

It will, but you will need to press Enter or click/tap on the search icon first before you will get search results on the left instead of just search suggestions below.

Anyway to combine the live search into the code? When I use my Windows-Key it live searches as I type without pressing enter.

It should be the same since the shortcut opens the same search field used by Start, but Files from shortcut instead of Everywhere from Start.

I suppose you are right I still have to "click" files, apps is the only thing auto-searching...would still be convenient to auto files.

Luckily the search suggestions are usually pretty good at helping to give you what you searching for. If not, then thank goodness it's only a click or Enter away for search results.

Now lets keep going down the line haha how do I set "music" as the default files search instead of "all"

Unfortunately there's not a search in "Music" category by default.

However, you could search in "Files" for say "*.mp3" to see all .mp3 files, or search inside say your Music library in File Explorer.

Music generally comes up first under "all" anyway, Microsoft has some work to do lol I would have to type ".flac" before everything I search.
