I noticed this sort of problem while my Dell N5010 notebook still had the original Windows 7, but I didn't give it much thought. Later, when I upgraded to Windows 8, I noticed that again and took a picture while 8 was being installed. And a few days ago I took another one just to make it sure.
Look at the pictures and you'll see that the background shows a pattern that looks like a scratched texture, black background with red crayon or something.
Thing is, that appears while the system is booting and stays there even when I set my desktop background to black as a solid color.
What can I do to make that background pattern go away? TIA.

PS: Sorry I asked this here first, but I just can't stand the Dell support...
