Has anybody figured out yet how to easily change the color of the start menu tiles. Mine are mostly green and I like to color code them by type of program.

Thanks guys. I will explore those. Hopefully it allows to change the tile color. For the background color I had already found some instructions.

Update: I guess I am out of luck as far as the tiles go. Both tutorials are for the background colors.

Here are the tiles I want to change

For the tile color you must change the C:\Windows\System32\uxtheme.dll with a Hexeditor.
For x64 0x96F34
For x86 0x34F74
Look for 17 93 4B FF and replace it with your color code.
The 17 93 4B = RGB FF = Alpha

Thank you. That looks like a good start. But it does not seem to allow to change the color of individual tiles. The tutorial, however, is excellent.

This is unfortunately not possible. Not yet.

I think, guys, he's talking about the colour of each individual tile and not the whole thing. Don't just re-post the same links if you don't know what he's asking.

Right. I was looking for a way to make each individual tile a specific color.

That ain't gonna happen with Win8 8102.

You can, however, change colors, seprately, of individual types of tiles.

Desktop Tiles and System Tiles ... though I haven't quite figured out what the system tiles are or, else, I have been unable to change what I believe are the system tiles.

Hi guys! I been looking at this for about a week. From doing custom applications, I've created my own tiles. All tiles we see, somewhere there has to be some sort of image. Where are these stored? I've serached for .ico, .jpf.gif and found nothing. Has anyone found where these apps are stored/located?

In my applications, I had to edit css sheets to point to the image I needed. These HAVE to be somewhere. They are on the desktop from somewhere.

Very nice, thanks for posting. I wonder whether that will work with my High Contrast Themes - like this one:

Thanks. I've updated that thread's post.

They work in HC themes.

They will just keep their color, not fully turn to Black & White like native apps do.
