Hi everybody,
My laptop's monitor's resolution is 1920x1080, but number of rows in Start Screen is 5, but I wanted to increase it to 6. I searched the forum and found the tutorial which mentioned creating (or changing) Layout_MaximumRowCount in the registry, but it has no effect at all.... (NB. I have tried signing out and back in, and even restarting the computer)

There are two other options in the registry:
Layout_AvailableHeightCells
Layout_MaximumAvailableHeightCells
which are set to 5. I change them to 6, but after I sign out and sign in, they automatically revert to 5......

Can somebody help me please???

Hello Farzadmf, and welcome to Eight Forums.

What does it tell you is the max you can use when using OPTION TWO?
You might see if you may be able to adjust your Start screen's DPI scaling size to see if it will allow you to set 6 rows afterwards.
Hope this helps some for now, :)
Shawn

Hi and thank you for your answer, but it's driving me crazy!!!

I've tried everything and the number of rows is STICKING to 5!!! The interesting fact is that I have a virtual machine running the same Windows 8 and when I go to full screen on that virtual machine, I have 7 rows, but in my own Windows, I have only 5 rows!!!! Do you know any other solution???

What did you set for the Start screen DPI scaling?

You might try experimenting with different screen sizes to see if you may find one that may allow you to use 6 rows.

I tried 16 & 18.4, but none of them worked. (I think I tried 17 too). Do you have any other ideas?

I don't know why, but my computer doesn't have that option! Also, another interesting thing is that when I run the VB script that changes the number of rows, it shows that: "for your computer.... minimum: 1... maximum: 5". I'm really confused why on a full HD display, the maximum number of rows should be 5..... :((((

try this to force the option to show... first make your screen vertical or portrait. then bring up the start screen, then settings, then tiles. once you enable the option, then switch your orientation back to landscape/horizontal.

I tried that: when I rotate the screen, I have 6 rows and have that option, but when I go back to normal, I no longer have that option, and the number of rows is reduced back to 5......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is your display set to 100%? or 125% or 150%?

It's set to 100% (after installing Windows, it was set to 125%, but I changed it to 100%)...
