Simultaneous Views of Programs in Windows 8

I am planning for transition into Windows 8 environment -- desktop, phone and possibly tablet. I want to be able to simultaneously view on the desktop and tablet my email inbox as well as my calendar/appointments. Can the Mail and Calendar functions of Windows 8 be viewed on the screen simultaneously? Can I drag emails into Calendar (as in Outlook) to bring email information into an appointment? If this is not possible with Mail and Calendar, are their other recommendations out there as to which programs I need to use to do so? Google Mail and Google Calendar? Are there good, functional and efficient ways to do this without going to Google? Thanks!

Outlook is still the best way to do this.

Unfortunately, can't look at email inbox and calendar at same time in Outlook -- have to toggle back and forth. Was hoping to have W8 Mail and Calendar up at same time....sigh.

Yeah you can. Outlook is kind of a robust piece of software.

Something like this can't be totally done YET, as the Office division of Microsoft would need to recompile and redesign all the Office apps for the immersive, metro, WinRT style.

In addition to the above with Windows Live Mail, You can right click on the email and select add to calendar. Unfortunately it does not support drag & drop

My shiny new Dell XPS runs Win8 (not 8.1). Needing to beef up security backup I've been looking at the (UK) Which cloud reports, and they include a decent rating for skydrive. I'm content with Office 2010. Loads of pix and music. I guess I'd need to pay for <60gb. For various reasons I still...
