I can not have a space in the file name if used with a batch file?

I removed the space and it works, BUT, what's the point this does not remove the prompt it just switches the additional action from a click verification to a key. I wish for it to empty in a single click just like things are deleted with a single press of the delete button; no confirmation (if you have it disabled). If there is a way to remove the "press any key to continue" that is what I am after as long as I don't have to close out the command prompt after.
Don't worry about the space in the exe file.
    Having no spaces is good.
    Just rename the shortcut.
    Spaces don't matter there.

To make the command window simply disappear with no further pressing of a key, remove the "pause" line.

    Change:

    EmptyRecycleBin.exe /Q
    pause

    To:

    EmptyRecycleBin.exe /Q

    The window will close automatically.

Yaaay everything works now, but it won't let me pin a batch file to the start screen. So I sent it to the desktop as a shortcut then tried to pin that shortcut to the start screen...nope it won't give me the option for some reason?

    I'm glad it mostly works.
Why you can't pin a shortcut to Start is a mystery.

Try putting them both in My Documents like I did.

The mystery continues, all other shortcuts in the folder offer the pin to start in the right click menu except for shortcuts to batch files.

If you use Classic Shell try the method shown in the following pictures:

I don't use the classic shell, did not even know it existed, if I switch to it just to make a shortcut then switch back will everything be changed?

I don't really understand all this. Why do you have to create a .bat file ? All you need to do is copy EmptyRecycleBin.exe to wherever you want. Next, to make sure it can run as Administrator by right click on it, select Compatibility tab then check on "Run this program as an administrator", apply. Next, right click on it and create a shortcut and name it whatever you want. Next right click on the shortcut->Properties and put a /Q at the end. Now, pin it to Start Screen or taskbar.

FYI, a batch file is only needed if you want to run multiple commands then you put it in a .bat (.bat stands for batch). In this case, only a single command to be run with an argument so just tag it on at the end in the shortcut.

Here's the file, just put both on desktop and try it. If you put them somewhere else then you need to change the path in the shortcut.
Since I put in the zip file, you'll need to right click->Properties on the shortcut and add " /Q" at the end.

    Ok.
I used a batch file because I didn't know you could edit the Shortcut Properties by adding /Q to the path.

Still, pinning the shortcut to Start makes changing the icon easy.

He can still drag & drop both into My Documents so they are not on the Desktop.

I'm glad you posted with the adding /Q in the Shortcut Properties .
I have learned something new & useful.

The issue of his not being able to pin a shortcut to Start still needs to be worked out.
Perhaps you can help with that also.?

If you want to try it, you can get it here:

    Welcome to Classic Shell

If I would have known about editing the shortcut path by adding /Q to it, it would have saved a lot of time.
But, it was a good learning experience.

If you try Classic Shell you could keep it.
You'll just have a Start button on the Desktop.
It won't interfere with the Metro Start screen.

Hopefully you will get it pinned to the Start screen.
I still don't know why it won't work.

    Hi Medab,
I have no problem pinning at all. With a shortcut, you can pin to start or taskbar with no problem. If I understand it right, he has problem pinning .bat file.
