Customising File type Icons

    Hi Shawn,
I have set VLC as the default program for all video file types and disc images (IMG and ISO), but the only problem is with AVI and ISO, the rest are OK.
This works fine on Win7 (I booted up that system just to check that I wasn't cracking up. )
I tried both the Icon Cache and Thumbnail Cache operations, but to no avail.
In fact now all of the thumbnails have gone and all that remains are the icons.

It appears the VLC may not support thumbnails for AVI files in Windows 8.

VLC doesn't support opening ISO file according to their site though.

That's a new one on me, and my versions of Win8 and VLC seem unaware of that too.
I've been playing movies from ISO and IMG files with VLC since I installed Win8, and the thumbnails were displayed until I tried the cache repair/rebuilds.

As I said, not serious, just irksome.

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling VLC to see if it may repair it.

    Tried that. No change.

So I made a copy of VLC.EXE and named it VLC AVI.EXE and made that the default for AVI files. That seems to work.

Will re-install Shark codecs to see if that brings back the thumbnails.

Got thumbnails back by using Media Preview Config.
