Right click on each one and select sharing - advanced sharing, and uncheck the box share this folder.

So i have to do this to every public folder? Will this remove the folders?

Nevermind i read your question wrong, i thought you just wanted to stop sharing them. You need to take ownership of the C:\users\public folder, and then delete it. Thats what i did. I share specific drives and folders and have no use for the public folders.

The Public folders don't relate to a particular user.

They are there to provide a safe method of sharing without having to bring down the NTFS security permissions on any of the User folders.

They also provide an easy way to share folders outside the Homegroup or to down share with older Op systems.

In just about any network sharing scenario you would be far better served by keeping those folders available in case you need them.

It could also be true that deleting those folders could cause other things not to function correctly so it might be worth while to create a system image before hand just in case.

I followed these instructions, and it still asks for permission from user Me! how do I give it my permission??? I'm the administrator and the only user. Seems like this shouldn't be so hard!
