clock on second monitor taskbar?

Your best bet would be a third-party taskbar clock.

Here's one, but I don't know how it would react on Windows 8.

There is no way to do that yet without a third party tool.

One thing you can do is look for software, or add a clock as the desktop image.

Good luck!

This had annoyed me for a while, and a friend of mine eventually figured out a way that doesn't require a third part tool. Since this was one of the first hits when I googled this, I figured I'd write up the explanation in case someone else needs it:

Steps:

  1. Right click the task bar and unlock it.
  2. On your primary monitor, click and drag your task bar to the second monitor. This will make the task bar previously on your secondary monitor (the one without a clock) jump over to the first.

This is so simple there's not a snowballs chance in hell that I'd thought of it myself.

Edit: Of course, if you want the clock on both, this won't help.

I don't think that works with the Start Screen. And Windows 8 I do believe allows you to have taskbars on both screens, not that you'd want to use Windows 8 in a dual-screen environment.

Plenty of people use Win8 in a multi screen environment, and actually besides the laughable option that they added allowing you assign a different wallpaper to each screen it behaves practically exactly as Win7 did. The issue is, MS is treating the second taskbar as an extension of the first instead of being 2 separate entities - which is silly. MS is lacking common sense in this area, but thankfully there are plenty of 3rd party apps that do it right, which is the case with quite a bit of MS's features or lack thereof, multi screen computing has only been around for close to 10 years...

I just installed Rainmeter and run a simple time/date/weather script on my second monitor.

[/br]I've been using Windows in a dual-screen environment since 2008 and happen to disagree. Windows 8 might only offer a few steps up in native dual-monitor support, but these steps are pretty nice.[/br]
  • Independent wallpapers
  • Fullscreen applications do not lose focus unless you click on the other monitor's taskbar
  • Option to only view running applications in the taskbar of the monitor on which it is displayed
[/br]Hopefully they consider the dual-monitor crowd when doing r&d on updates and patches.

Contrary to popular belief... or perhaps as a result of Microsoft listening to users... This method works very well. Windows 8 with dual (extended) screens automatically displays a task bar across both screen in "Desktop" mode. By unlocking the main task bar, and dragging it to the 2nd screen, the two task bars are simply swapped over. Nice.

Oh, and if you look in the task bar properties, you can even have the icon of any open applications appear on the task bar on the same screen as the open window... even if your main icon is on the main taskbar, which has now moved.

The problem with the method gaspodeagain suggests, is that when using start8 pressing the start button on the primary monitor opens the start menu on the secondary monitor.
