Fund this link while doing a Google search for a small program that I had to set up Aero Glass. Some good info here for those who may be wanting an Aero Glass theme. Plus a Google search brought a good deal of info about available work around, and patches. . .

None of them are perfect however at providing the Glass and the Blur at the same time.

The same way I used Windows 3.1 without a start button.

I just wish that when the axe is about to fall on something at Microsoft Development, they would think of those using regular desktop computers, especially the very large number of us who don't use touch screens and, like me, don't even want one, and leave the axed feature(s) as an option or even an optional extra as they seems to be keen on charging for just about everything that was once standard. I'm so glad that I have Vista and 7 (where the axe started to fall) which have proven themselves as real work horses.

...from a lapsed Microsoft MVP.... ;-/ (No wonder I'm lapsed....)

Are you saying that the features that the Start button and the Aero provides, are equal?

My point was that if you never had something, you don't miss it, you just get on with things.
It's when you have something, use it, and like it, then it's taken away against your wishes, as
MS have done in W8, that things start to suck.

I use Aero Lite all the times now but the transparency trick doesn't work anymore.
At least we still have customizable cursors and colors!

Since Microsoft are going to put in a new UI "Wind" in the next version of Windows, will they keep the Aero UI used in Windows Vista/7. Because what if I get disappointed with the new UI? I might want Aero as an alternative. But, must wait and find out. :p
