Want Grey color windows explorer and appliction background

I just installed windows 8 and to reduce pressure on eye I want make windows explorer and application background color grey, previously in windows 7 I was able to do it just replacing a theme, but now I didn't find any suitable grey color theme for windows 8. Is here anyone know how can I do that?

    thanks

I've been through this over the last month and this is what I found. You will have to find a theme of your liking and install it. Or you will have to use Windows Style Builder to create a theme to your liking. If you want to use one of the high contrast themes which are in the win 8 selection list ,they can be adjusted as you like. Hope this will help.

I just used a standard high contrast theme . After that right click on the desktop and select customize. You will see an option named color ( must be t second left option if I am right ). Click on that and you will be able to edit several color options. I didn't use a hex editor.

I tried a registry tweak, but it worked on other applications rather than on the file explorer, which is fine because I want a grey background for windows of all applications. I'm still looking for the registry entry for the file explorer main and tree window.

    Thanks!

If anyone knows what software is used to customize themes, please let me know. Perhaps I can use my present theme (which is the default used for 8.1 with my own wallpaper) and modify the background color of window apps.

May be this would be one of the fixes Update 2 would bring? Default Windows theme which is probably one of the most popular themes used in other Windows OS as it is easy on the eyes. Who ever made the decision to remove the theme should be tarred and feathered as they clearly were not thinking.

Funnily enough. Last night I went looking for dark themes, because I had a terrible migraine. And realised how ridiculously bright the default UI was. I ended up finding the following to be pretty good (with some flaws):

Penumbra 8 - Windows 8(.1) visual style by Scope10 on deviantART

Minimal 2.0 dark (updated) by swapnil36fg on deviantART

Base for Windows 8.1 by link6155 on deviantART

Exon for Windows 7 by Nadir1 on deviantART

Windows 8.1 (Update 1) Dark by PacManix on deviantART.

Axonkolor 8.1 by neiio on deviantART

Grey-Blue ML Theme For Windows 8/8.1 by cu88 on deviantART

Sorry for this stupidly long list!
