how do u get windows mail back?

i have windows mail from vista installed on my win 7, and updated to win 8. No mail? why does'nt it work? because of that and no normal start menu like win 7 i went back to win 7. Win 8 start menu is horible to me and very hard to navigate to things. if there was a win 7 start tab that would be better and the option to use windows mail?

A lot of users are using "classic shell" to achieve the normalcy of 7.

I have Vista Windows Mail and Calendar both working fine in 8 using the SevenForums tute's, however I should warn anyone trying that route, as Microsoft no longer support them except in Vista, they could easily introduce insecurities into your system as they will never be patched by Windows Update.
That's why there are no similar tute's here.
If you find the Mail App awkward, as I do, it would be better to use a compatible desktop email client......a Google search will no doubt find one for you.

Windows mail? Isnt that replace by Hotmail program for desktop?
I find the modern start menu quite nice and useful. My desktop is clean i always use the win key to open and find my programs. Now i can organise my start menu, label, and clean how i like it. What do you dislike? Is it that is different and you were just finwe how it was before.

As for email application i have use windows hotmail in win7, thunderbird, and outlook. Outlook 2010 is my favorite to date followed by thunderbird only because i wasnt happy with outlook 2003

I think the OP was talking about a desktop email client instead of the built-in Store Mail App.

I run Windows Live Mail 2012 on my Windows 8 Pro and have been using it for a while on Windows 7. Just imported my contacts and E-mails from Win 7 to Win 8. I also use Photo Gallery and Movie Maker.
