Okay so I have seen im 1 of many who have had this problem. When i am on chrome and windows media player at the same time, my computer freezes and i am forced to restart my computer via power button. When i try to use Metro IE10 instead the same thing happens without media player on. Hopefully someone on here can help. Im not 100% tech savvy but have enough common knowledge to do what needs to be done
Specs:
-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30GHz
-Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
-System type: 64-bit Operating System

um idk what more you need... Oh i also ran these to things so hopefully you can help :D

It seems your network card isn't recieving an IP address from the DHCP server in your router, and as such can't connect to the internet. I have no idea why this should cause the PC to freeze, but I recon you should install the drivers for your network card. Do other devices in the same network work?

So I went into control panel>Hardware and sound>Device Manager>Network Adapters.
Under that I have Microsoft kernel Debug Network adapter, Ralink 802.11n Wireless Lan card, and Realtek PCle GBE Family Controller
I checked each driver and all are up to date. My phone, mac, wii, and ipad all go over the same wifi so i dont think that is it.
I posted this in a different section and this is what the person there had to say.

"Try going to the BIOS and disabling C-States,a few people have been having issues like these(like myself) and that has solved it...

If that doesn't work... check your drivers..."

Is that possibly it?

I've been having several lockups daily since changing over to RP. In my case, it seems I cannot use any browser except for IE. Started some testing this past Friday night:

Used IE exclusively all Friday night; no issues
Got up Saturday morning, PC still running fine. Opened up Chrome. Locked up within 10 minutes.
Used IE for the rest of the day until that night; no issues. Tried Opera. Locked up within 10 minutes.
Sunday morning, only IE. No issues. Tried Firefox. System locked up.
This morning, gave Firefox another shot. Locked up in 10 minutes.

This seems to be a strange issue. Beyond me, although it seems to be pointing to hardware/driver issue to me, since it works for one and not the other??? Is that possible?

Agreed. I am pretty sure it happens less or never. It's very depressing that I have to use IE. Maybe it's Microsoft's secret project to convert users to IE:)

I am having the following problem. I am using Microsoft Outlook and I walk away from my computer for 10 minutes. When I come back the screen is frozen. The cursor slowly disappears and then nothing. I have to reboot. I do use Google Chrome but it has never happened with Chrome on. Only Outlook. Any thoughts?

jeiduson - please start your own topic/thread so that your issue can receive the individual attention that it deserves.

Uninstall Chrome (while waiting for a reply) and see if that helps.

An official fix has apparently been posted, and Rafael has written about it.

Here's the fix:

Quote
Run the following in an elevated command prompt, then reboot.

bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

Be sure to read Rafael's blog post on the issue so you understand what the command does.
