Who here has a Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm eligible to upgrade my Motorola Droid 2 at work and I'm looking at going with a Samsung Galaxy S3. I've been very hesitant to move from the Droid 2 as I much prefer the physical keyboard...but I think with the larger screen size on the S3, that the touch screen keyboard won't be nearly as painful for me.

I asked for feedback from my friends on facebook who have these phones and about 5 of my friends have them and everybody is completely satisfied with them.

So, anybody here got anything to say about them?

    Hello Patrick.

I have the S2 and it's great, so the S3 should be just as good or better.

I thought you would wait and get a Samsung Ativ S with Windows 8 OS???

Seriously, a nice phone. I don't know if you saw this, but just in case didn't and you get one:

I considered waiting for a Windows 8 phone, in fact I was quite interested in the potential for the Nokia 920. However, my company uses Verizon and they aren't going to have the Nokia 920

With respect to Windows 8 specifically, I think a phone is a good device for the OS and interface. However, I'm leary to be on any of the first models and I need this phone to work with a variety of tools and such for work. Specific applications which generate secure tokens for logons to Amazon EC2, and also another security token application that I use to generate 2 factor authentication codes for logons to a remote windows application server at work need to work in order for me to do my job. While these will hopefully have a windows 8 phone version at launch, I unfortunately don't have the ability to wait for these apps if they don't exist.

Vz isn't much for Windows phones, They're 99% Android. MS ought to have a talk with them if they haven't already. It'll be interesting to see if they offer the Surface phone when released.

I see. If your using your phone for specific apps to log in, then I can see your point, especially that it's a company phone. I could imagine your boss saying -> "Parks, why didn't you make sure this phone would trusted to work with these apps?" Yikes! It would be like a guy showing up on the jobsite with a dull saw!

Do you get new every two? And the company lets you pick it out? Is that usual in enterprise?

Yeah, that wouldn't have gone over well, and coworkers would have laughed at me if my phone was inadequate.

We sign 2 year contracts. Once the contract is up, we are eligible to change phones. I've had my current phone for about 2.5 years. The company lets me choose anything that Verizon wireless offers for $199.99 or less. Anything above that price and I pay the difference out of pocket. Some of our iPhone users have paid more for the larger capacity iPhones. I just plan to add an external memory card to my phone out of pocket. As far as being usual, it seems companies these days are providing choices to employees. I worked for a rather large company before and they have a mix of Blackberry, Windows phones, iPhones and Droids. So, this mixture seems more the norm these days.

Ordered my Galaxy S3 yesterday and it came in today. So far, totally satisfied with the phone. Will take some time to get used to not having a qwerty keyboard, and unsure whether I will ever consider a touchscreen keyboard to be better...but overall the phone is leaps and bounds better.

Even my wife, who is set on replacing her iPhone 3GS with an iPhone5, took a liking to this Galaxy S3...and is considering not waiting for the iPhone5 to come in stock and getting one of these instead. She is a bit concerned that the feature set of the Droid might be too overwhelming for her..but she is thinking about it. I think she just really wants a new phone and doesn't want to wait anymore.
