BTW, I honestly consider Swype keyboards to be better than physical qwerty keyboards of phones

Congrats on the new phone! That's a nice bene from the company. Getting more rare as time goes on. Are you liking the screen keyboard?

Even my wife, who is set on replacing her iPhone 3GS with an iPhone5, took a liking to this Galaxy S3...and is considering not waiting for the iPhone5 to come in stock and getting one of these instead. She is a bit concerned that the feature set of the Droid might be too overwhelming for her..but she is thinking about it. I think she just really wants a new phone and doesn't want to wait anymore.
Can an iPhone user be saved from the iConic grip?

Yes, I had swype on my old Droid 2, and I have TouchPal (very similar to Swype) on my Asus Transformer tablet. I just found that I didn't use Swype on my old device as I would just slide out the keyboard and use it that way. On my tablet, I don't use Touchpal much because the keyboard is so wide (being a 10" display) that swyping back and forth over that much distance is almost tiring and slower.

The reason that I don't like the display keyboards better is that they take up a large section of the small screen when you use them. With my slide out keyboard, 100% of the screen real estate could be showing me the website that I was typing on, rather than 30-40% being dedicated to the virtual keyboard.

With respect to being a benefit, I am an IT guy, and this benefit ensures that I am on call 24x7x365...so all benefits come with their prices.

The keyboard with Swype is ok, but like I said above, it's just annoying to me that it takes up so much real-estate on my limited screen space. Having a slide out keyboard alleviated that issue, but did make the phone thicker and heavier. Also annoying is that symbols and such that I used commonly were available on the physical qwerty without having to access sub menus. With the virtual keyboard, I have to go into and out of menus far more often. But over time I will get used to it and will get faster.

    Hi pparks
I hope you will get used to the screen keyboard soon. I agree they do take a big share of the screen but now your phone is much less bulky.

BTW, Is your S III running on Ice-cream sandwich or jelly bean?

My wife got a new Samsung Galaxy S3 over the weekend too. She was fully planning on getting an iPhone 5, but after using my new Samsung GS3 and playing with the new iPhone 5, she deemed that the iPhone 5 just looked too much like her last phone and it was time for something "a little more fun, and different".

No, Arpan. The wisest decision she made was to marry Patrick. The second was to get the Samsung.

    No doubt there
On a serious note, iPhone is over hyped. Outrageously priced as well, at least here in India.
