If you write an app for windows - it is more likely to be seen.

There is already so much in Apple store - new stuff will get completely lost in there.

A tiny number of developers have a chance to get rich from windows store.

No wonder they all seem so gung ho about it - pure self interest - it is human nature.

    Crisis adverted.

I found that with newer versions of OSX (Lion and Mountain Lion) and VMWare Workstation (which I own a license for), I was able to come up with an environment suitable for testing and learning that is sufficiently fast to make the system usable. A virtualized OSX has never worked particularly well in the past, but it's working fine now. It's functional on my current core 2 duo laptop and even better on my Core i7 desktop.

Hhhmmm... now that's interesting! I heard OS X was tied to the motherboard and that Apple had circumvented any way of running it on any piece of hardware that they didn't manufacture. I would've tried running OS X in a VM, but heard that it just couldn't be done, at least not with the latest versions. I would have preferred to test drive the Mac this way rather than buying a real Mac.

I'm sure be interested to know how you pulled this off, although it's a little late for me now...

In a VM, it's possible, but a sure PITA if you have an AMD processor.

Natively installed, it's referred to as a Hackintosh.

I recently did VMware in reverse, that is I put VMware Fusion on the Mac, and installed an instance of Windows 8, the 90 day version. VMware does not have a free version hosted on the Mac. VMware fusion is free for about 30 days. I have no plans of putting a permanent version of Windows 8 on the Mac however. But it did give me a taste of running Windows on a Mac. It took 4 GB RAM to run Windows 8 within VMware without slowing down. My Mac mini has 8 GB RAM total, which is it's main redeeming quality. If I had more drive space, I'd try running Windows in boot camp, where it is the only OS running. But my mini only has a 320 GB hard drive at 5200 RPM. Oh well, that's what happens when you buy a bargain system, although Apple's pricing isn't a bargain, even on Craigslist, LOL...

Agreed, and 1 reason that I don't use AMD processors at the current time.

Yeah, they maintain their value fairly well. (What little value they actually ever had)

That is until the latest version of itunes doesn't support your mac os version in which apple stopped supporting back when they ditched Core Duo processors.
