The majority of people that I know have iPhones, the rest have Androids. I only know of 2 people who actually have a Windows phone.

Please, you are killing me!. People don't care about the hardware. They care about the trendiness. If it's not what everybody else is using, they don't want it.

I don't think so, not in the next 2-3 years at least. Too much hype you say...that sounds like it's true for the handful of people who think MS is really taking off. (yes, CokeRobot, I include you in that list).

Have you met anyone with an android that ACTUALLY loves their phone? iphone users do, my friends with Windows Phones do, but for everyone else I know that has android hate them. I only know about three people out of 100 or so people I know closely that love their phone; and the thing that they love are widgets. I've literally seen a brand new droid be thrown at a trash can, a new android phone thrown on the floor as it was being silly, and numerous other things. Speaking of trendy over cost, that would be true only if android wasn't about four times more used than the iphone. Why? Better hardware and lower cost effective phones.

And I do hype about Microsoft because I see that they have nowhere to go but up. They're exciting again, they have new products, products of which that stem huge debates and lengthy conversations. People are talking about them again like they used to.

I just read a really good analogy about the iphone. Six years ago, it was the sleek and sexy BMW that they unveiled unto the world. Today, it's a slightly refreshed Toyota Camry, it's safe, reliable and you mom drives one.

I personally poo on android, as it is just no. No wonder the logo of android is a short green robot, it's obese, has diabetes, and just sickly overall. Android ranks third in user satisfaction and is beat out by Windows Phone and iphone. The iphone doesn't have anything better or comparable to a high end android device or even mid-range for that matter. That is where Windows Phone 8 will win. People with shoddy phones coming out of contracts or nearing upgrades might just end with a Windows Phone because hardware is better and software is supreme. I for one, might do something ludicrous and buy a new Lumia 920 out of contract if it speaks to me (as in the camera is drop dead stunning and seems durable, but as it's Nokia this is no concern). Not only that, a familiar brand will become a familiar ecosystem of apps and user experience between different form factors working as one.

apple's time might be ending. Recently, a few economists are feeling that too. Too much hype will bring them down.

I should also add, since a Windows Phone 8 is like a Pocket PC, can one call it a Baby PC?
I'll let you know the first time I run into someone using a Windows Phone. Microsoft has an uphill battle on its hands. Even when I go into a mobile phone store (like Best Buy Mobile) I have to hunt to find the Windows phones.

At my local best buy, they have three of them from att. They don't have the Nokia phones oddly enough...

The main reason people stick with iPhone is because they've invested so much into the ecosystem between Apps and Music purchases that making a move is not worthwhile. Plus all the accessories that they've bought that are Apple specific with built in dockers etc. I used to have an iPhone 3GS and it was alright except having to reboot once every couple of weeks or less. That was until iOS 4 came out and the performance dropped, reboots occurred more often and the poor design of multitasking caused everything to stop working. I had little invested as far as Apps, no music because I hated iTunes and only one radio that had an Apple docker. I dumped it for an HTC HD7 Windows Phone that put the 3GS to shame. I'll be replacing it with the Nokia 920 in a couple of months.

The Nokia 920 camera and screen appear to outclass everything out there, but all I've seen are videos. Gonna take a serious look when it comes out and I very well might switch from Android. Big fan of customization, and with all the pluses of the iPhone I could never get one. That lack of screen freedom might be the only drawback of the 920 for me, I don't know. Will have to wait a couple months to find out what you can and can't do with it.

Thus far I have seen exactly one (1) person in my life with a Windows phone, so they do exist.

Apple is risking consumer removal if they continue their horrid lawsuits against everything that moves, they really need to back off.

Yes, I support our corporate cell phones at work and we are predominately android and most people are satisfied with their phones. We have quite a number of Motorola Droid 1's, 2's, Samsung Charges, and the popular Motorola Razr and Razr Maxx. The only complaints we have at work are the people who were stuck on Blackberry and wanted to get to a new Droid phone. I personally have the Motorola Droid 2 and it's been solid for me.

Are you saying that Droid has 75% of the SmartPhone market and Apple has the remaining 25%. I don't think Droids are 4 to 1 over iPhones. If so, then clearly people must not hate them as much as you seem to believe.

Well, they absolutely are getting a lot of talk. But to be fair, so is the iPhone 5 even though it's bringing very little to the table as far as new.

I have to disagree with your statement as I regularly hear from friends and see posts on facebook from people about how the love of their life the iPhone has gone and died on them, or that they cant make calls, or text messages have gone astray, or that they have lost everything from their iPhone.

Ahh, so these droids must have at least android 3 or more likely 4 installed? That's probably the only version that is acceptable, as the phone itself is a higher end model. Many that I know have mid range phones that are drab, but were cost effective at the time.
And no, I'm talking about android in general, not just the droid.
