Technet possibly again to restrict software

    Hi there
It is rumoured that when Windows 8 Enterprise appears on TechNet it will only be a 180 day copy.

Hope this isn't true but there we are. If it's 180 day trial I might just as well download the Normal Trial software without bothering with TechNet any more.

    I hope I'm wrong.

I believe Technet will only include the enterprise version of the software. They actually adjusted the licensing and terms of the program in July of 2012. They have eliminated many versions in the program.

I would think you would be able to activate the enterprise copy. But honestly, if you look at the intended use of the Technet program, it seems reasonable that you would be able to complete this eval in 180 days.

Technet never was the "right way" for home hobbyists to license their Microsoft software for full time use. It's just what people did as all of the software was there and MS sold the license to anybody. I personally think they should have left all of the software in the program and just increased the price dramatically. For example, I have MSDN with Visual Studio and it's nearly $5,500 for the first year. So, why in the world was Technet only $200 and offered almost all of the software.

I hope that isn't true. Yes they removed several things from their lists but the licenses for what remained remained permanent.
