Excellent! It makes my day to meet another Nokia fan. I had a windows moble phone briefly, circa Iphone 1, and I was smug as anything that my phone could do all sorts of complex things (not) like running multiple apps at the same time, copying and pasting between apps, and accepting a phone call without closing the app I was working in -- I'm not sure they were called apps back then though. I dropped it in a bucket of salt water and replaced it with a Nokia -- maybe the N97.

It saddens me that Nokia has fallen behind, but I think they made the best decision by switching to windows phone OS. I read the CEO thinks that multicore for phones is just a battery sink, and from what you say, you don't seem to really need it. I'm not looking forward to my N8 failing, but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

I always buy my phones unlocked (lately directly from Nokia), but it's great to hear you'll be able to upgrade conveniently
It definitely does suck that Nokia has been overtaken to be now the third largest manufacturer, but, if the Nokia Lumia 900 is able to spark such a buzz about the Windows Phone and has literally been receiving attention that NO other Windows Phone has, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm pretty excited to see their new Windows Phone 8 devices.

Well, the great thing about Windows Phone 8 is that it actively shuts off a core of dual core processor so it only uses the one for main things, and cranks the other back on for taxing items. So that way, it's not a huge battery sucker. Honestly though, as a shutterbug, I am really excited for their PureView cameras to hit Windows Phone 8. Nokia has said that they will be building phones with 8 on them with the cameras. They released a Symbian phone with one, a 41 MEGAPIXEL camera! WOW!

No. Kidding.? Wow. I don't keep up on tech after I buy a particular device so that I won't get buyers remorse, so I had no idea.

The cameras on the Nokia phone have been one of the consistently best fringes available on a smart phone. Iteration after iteration, Nokia blasts them all out of the water in the phone department. I'm more excited than you can guess about what you've just told me. ... now where can I go find a new bucket of salt water to drop my N8 into? ...

Sheesh, I need to start reading up on Windows phone 8. I didn't know about the ability to shut off a core, either. I had the same experience as a lot of N8 users, were belle drained a lot more battery than Anna had done... so much that I considered hacking my phone again to put Anna back on. I'd be really interested in seeing the battery specs on one of the new multicore WP 8 phones when they come out.

I wonder how much of that small interest was due to it being free (100% rebate, anyway) from companies like AT&T. I don't wonder much about what's going to happen to that interest once it becomes widely known that it's a dead end.

I wanted to see my first Windows phone in person, so I looked for one in my local Best Buy a couple of months ago. I didn't find one among the several dozen phones on display, so I asked for help. The blue shirt led me to the sole display model, but he couldn't make it work. He blamed it on those darn kids who were fooling with it earlier. (True story.)

It could be that it was free for a few weeks. It could be that it was 100 dollars with a new contract. It could be that Nokia is well known for phone building. It could be many things. It could even be the Windows Phone OS itself....

9 out 20 phones in the amazon's top rated phones are all Windows Phone 7's. Coincidence? Methinks not. Even if you can't get Windows Phone 8, Microsoft and Nokia are committed to the Windows Phone 7 users and will provide the main user experience of 8 and Nokia will be bringing new add-ons to their Lumia phones and from what I've gathered, will probably help support the other Windows Phone 7s.

By the way, don't ever go to best buy for something like that. They're like Verizon, the phones they sell are cheap androids, higher end ones, and iphones. That's pretty much it. Go to an att store, they have the Lumia 900 or at least another Windows Phone to try out.

The camera on the Lumia 900 is incredible. It has a Carl Zeiss lens in it and it champions over the HTC Titan II's 16 MP camera. The only other phone I've heard that is a bit better is the iphone and that's primarily due to the fact that the iphone depends on digital software versus the lens to get a good photo.

I just finished watching the WHOLE TWO HOURS of the Windows Phone Summit today and have the full platform features known to me know. Basically, EPICNESS! It's literally going to be a Windows Phone 8, much like Windows 8. Some phones might feature the same hardware as a Windows slate. It will literally be a developer's heaven of porting over a Windows 8 application to Windows Phone. Gaming is literally going to blow the competition away, Direct3D, DirectX gaming and also, Microsoft has some well known game publishers working on the Windows Phone platform. They also demoed the game play on it, and WOW! I'm impressed! It makes the most graphical game on ios or android look like an Atari game!

The best part of the summit was featuring the NFC technology capabilities. That really showed how Windows and Windows Phone will be coming together and how well knit the strategy is. NFC has only been shown off lately for purchases, like google wallet (which Windows Phone 8 will have a Wallet Hub that does more than google or apple's offering), but Windows Phone 8 builds far over that. They showed scenarios where you can use NFC tags from a business card to import contacts to you People Hub, sharing contact info from the phone to the Windows slate, and being able to go to a website from an NFC tag on a magazine! How that works, I don't know but that is cool!

Even more cool is how Windows Phone continues to build off the putting people first centric. Skype calls will be like receiving a normal call. The Start Screen will be more customization and more personal. Even though the hardware is beefier, it still continues to do what every other "phone" out there can't do: put people first!

Amazon Top Rated: best Cell Phones With Service Plans

9 out 20 phones in the amazon's top rated phones are all Windows Phone 7's. Coincidence? Methinks not.
I wouldn't stake my life on Amazon's lists being particularly meaningful, but I'll play. When I choose "best sellers" from your page, 0 out of the top 10 are Windows phones, and only 2 out of the top 20 are Windows phones. No prizes for guessing the one phone whose absence is so glaringly conspicuous. The curious thing is that the two Lumia 900s have a total of 554 "reviews", while the other 18 in the "best sellers" list have a total of only 766. Astroturfing, anyone? Or maybe it's just a small number of people who are very enthusiastic about a product no one else cares about. I observed the latter when I was into Zune and also after I sold them all, as there is a certain number of people who continue to praise Zune for advantages that only ever existed in their minds. Again, I wouldn't recommend drawing any conclusions from these Amazon lists, but it was fun playing.

If you really believe that and don't move on as soon as possible, you will be disappointed. I mean, the writing is on the wall for Lumia 900.

Sorry, I've got no reason to go to an AT&T store. Best Buy has a million different phones, including the big ones, and whenever I'm there, I've noticed all their reps (at least 4) are sitting down and busy working with customers. If Microsoft isn't big in Best Buy, that's just another indication of how pathetic their presence in the mobile market is, and why they're taking such desperate risks with Windows HE.

Lol! I don't ever go to best buy for anything anymore. That place has really gone down the tubes!

There is one advantage to their phone selection though; I did a stint in 2010 where I got a new smart phone from best buy every 28 days for months! They had a guaranteed exchange policy on their phones within the first 30 days so I tried every unlocked smart phone they offered. That's how I ended up with windows mobile phone that ended up in the bucket of salt water. I bought a Nokia n97 from Nokia after that. -- I would much rather pay full price for a phone than be locked to a carrier.

I don't know if my counting system doesn't work, but the Lumia 900 was just at 9th out of 10 place yesterday. Disregarding that, literally three days before release, the 900 was on pre-order on amazon and a day before release, it was already a number one best seller. Now, of course it's not there anymore because that was two or so months ago and some new rip of both Windows Phone and iphone is selling right now. As for reviews, if you look at your offered amazon page and mine, the black Lumia 900 has at 400 reviews on your, over 530 on mine; more reviews than any other device on both pages. This was a fun game to play....

There is writing on the wall for the Lumia 900, writing that praises it. Two days ago, Nokia released their Camera Extras app that they promised on delivering. I know that Microsoft and Nokia will both support Windows Phone 7 because 1) that's how Microsoft's support is. Just because Windows 8 is coming out, that doesn't mean Windows 7 users are in the dark for updates and left to fend for themselves for support. The same goes for vista and for xp. Support will be there for Windows Phone 7 and is something that neither apple nor google and say about their devices. apple isn't going to continue support for ios 6 on an iphone version from 2 years ago. And 2) Nokia will support the Lumia 900 because they will and have to. Simple as that, and they're already coming though and new updates will be available later this summer.

Now, going to best buy is like stepping foot onto a slowly sinking ship. Now, if there's any writing on the wall, it's best buy. They're losing customers to who? The amazon.com. People only go there more these days to play with the physical product and if you're not online shopping savvy, you're probably there. Sure, if Microsoft's product isn't there, that's more best buy's fault for not having a supposed "largest selection of phones" available. Simple as that.

I go to Radio Shack now instead of best buy -- it's a lot smaller, but there's something like seven of them in the city, so one of them is bound to have what I want.

I've given up on checking online to see if things are available in my local Best Buy, because half the time best buy can't even find the item that they're so sure is in stock. I'll take Radioshack over Best Buy any day.
