Hi all,

I need a bit of advice please.

I have just bought a WD Elements Portable USB HDD purely to attach it to my router and use as a network drive.

It all works perfectly.

I have been wondering though, is it OK to leave it permanently attached?

Because it is powered via USB and my router is always on, it means that the drive is always powered even when not in use.

Will this harm the drive?

Are they designed to be used for extended periods?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards..,
