    Open ports for P2P networks

Hi guys. i want your help. My router is thomson tg782. I use mtorrent as my Bittorrent client but i have a problem. I am not listed on trackers as connectable, meaning i must open ports in my router but i don't know how.

My client uses 28281 port. My download speed is very limited (200 Kb/s) in torrents with 150 seeders and 0 leechers.

My connection's speed is 24/1 MBps.

Is there any known way to open ports?

thnx in advance for your help and support.

    Hi,

If mtorrent has UPnP available, enable it in it's settings and you're good. Make sure your router has it enabled too, in its settings.

It's still very easy to setup if neither the program nor your router have it (they should) - so let us know and we'll help you configure manually instead, if needed.

Yeah, that's it. You could double check in services.msc that UPnP service is set to Auto and started, but other than that, all is well.

I would enable the Extended Security feature in the Thomson, and see how it goes with that.

If UPnP is not doing what it should, you can manually forward the port:

    1. Game & Application Sharing
    2. Select - Pick a task
    3. Select - Assign a game or application to a local network device
    4. If P2P applications are listed as an option, choose any, otherwise
    5. Select - Create a new game or application
    6. Fill out the details for the PC (device)

You also need to make sure you open the port for TCP and UDP in any software firewall you may be using.

So what did it? Simple restart of the program, reboot of Windows or manually adding TCP/UDP ports?

    You're welcome.
